Following a three year trend, the unemployment rate for all veterans is 6.3 percent – according a release from the Bureau of Labor Statistics – which is well below the national unemployment rate of 7.9 percent.

However, the jobless rate remains higher than the national average for post 9/11 veterans with 10 percent unemployment.

The VA blog VAntage Point reports that although unemployment for Iraq and Afghanistan-era Veterans actually went up slightly – the overall trend is downward.

A chart shows in January 2010 unemployment among the post 9/11 vets was above 12 percent. So, the trend is a declining unemployment rate over time.  You can read their full analysis and view the charts HERE.
