During the 33rd National Veterans Wheelchair Games, participants have been showing off their athletic prowess at venues across Tampa Bay: Weight-lifting at the Tampa Convention Center. Archery at Raymond James Stadium.

And now for something completely different: water skiing.

On Monday at Lake Seminole Park in Pinellas County, a handful of wheelchair athletes tried their hand at adaptive water skiing during a non-competitive exhibition.

It gave some the “freedom” they hadn’t experienced since being confined to a wheelchair.
